Topic: feed screw is screaming at me!

When I put in pellets, the feed screw was doing ok for a but, producing really crappy wavy and bubbly filament, but then the feed screw started screaming. it sounds like a really loud old creaky door. I am thinking that maybe some pellets might be getting stuck on between the feed screw and the black pipe. I am trying to let it run but it sounds terrible like it is about to break. Any idea what this is or why this may be happening, and them of course how to prevent it?

Sounds like it may be assembled incorrectly, can you post a few photos? A video may help too. The motor is louder when loaded, this is normal.

Bubbly means over temperature or moisture in the pellets. Wavy means the nozzle is clogged or the filament guide is in the wrong place.

We had the nuts too tight. Once we loosened the nuts a bit the noise went away.

What nuts? The 4 main bolts? The tightness of those shouldn't cause noise.  I'm still worried it may not be assembled correctly, can you post a few photos, especially of the thrust bearing area?

i had the same problem, solution for me was that i didn't assemble it the right way.

Double check that you get 1/4" of the feed screw out of the barrel at hotend side when you compress the screw toward the motor,
(you can check this post : http://www.soliforum.com/topic/12287/as … ion-pcb/), also, i forgot to left 2 mm of free space between the motor shaft and the screw junction, when plastic melt, pressure will go high and push the feed screw to the motor shaft => bad noises and poor performances.

Hope this will help you ^^
