Does any one have an solidoodle workbench apprentice Probe STL Mine Broke today
There is not very much support out there for the SWA yet.
I have what we have all deemed as a Frankindoodle as it is a SWA that has a SD4 case on it and did not come with it's glass bed. Missing bed not an issue of course as I just bought a cheap iece of glass and done...
At anycase I'm rambling. I am pretty new to this 3d world and have only dabbled in making my own models so far. I can try and give it a shot and model one for you.
here is the pic of it
i was going to try to 3d scan it
If its abs just make a slurry and fix it...will be stronger than before
Seeing what broke, I am with OneMoreCast. I think abs slurry would fix it. I am not saying you should not make a new one but, until you can it should more than do the trick.
Curious. How did you break it?
i guess just from using it over time
each time it prints after it probes it will push its self up out the the way
I have a Workbench App so I am aware of the mechanism. Hmm... Sounds like I better get a new one made before mine breaks too.
you can weld it with abs glue from homedepot. You'll have to draw the part from scratch, since SD support will not give you a drawing to work off of. Cant wait to get my workbench.... Starting to wonder why I didn't build a printer instead.
i guess abs glue is slurry in an easy to use container that you can only open once with your hands, and then have to open it with channel locks the next time you use it three years later. Sorry I was being a troll wasn't I?
I dont have the apprentice, if you can pm me a bunch of pics of probe all angles and stuff ill see if I can make one...the more pics the better. Also pics of where on printer it hooks into
cool i will this weekend onemorecast
SoUnds good. Also if you have digi pliers just have them measuring piece with each pic, this way I can get it as good as possible
If it's the same as the workbench, I'll be glad to help you out when mine gets here. It's due to ship in a week. Considering the parts I've seen breaking on it, you may want to consider start g to look at carriages with servo mounted probes. There are folks in here that might tell you to eliminate ate the system altogether. It makes sense. I can't remember the last time i had to level my prusa. That bed is overweight and moves a lot more than the SD.
My bet is the only difference in the Ap and the full size is the limits. I am betting all the parts are the same. I honestly do not know why they would not be.
If you're still in a jam when I get mine, I'll help you out. It cant be that hard to draw. If it's under 60 days old, I would ask support for a new one, if you haven't modded your printer.
Of course I might get to you first. lol.
i have had mine sense dec its not under warranty any more but they are going to send me a new one this will make the 2Nd one that broke so i know other people will have the same problems too
If you have the skills, I would try to draw it, so you can print a couple of spares to have around. Knowing this is an issue, I'll follow the thread. If you don't have one drawn up in a week or two, I'll try to knock it out and share it in here.
As soon and the new one comes in i will get it scanned and draw up
has any one made a slt yet of the probe ??
We have a Workbench here at my school, I can get the dimensions if someone still wants them. Otherwise, when I have some free time this week I can get a model in SketchUp to hand around.
Edit: Getting the .stl ready right now. Printed once and will post soon, making a few changes.
Ready!

Please let me know if this works or doesn't work for an Apprentice, I don't own one, but from the picture the arms look the same.
First round of issues:
1) If you're running SoliPrint, be sure you re-run Z-offset calibration. In fact, you'll probably have to do this with any software you're using, slic3r, etc...
2) The body seems to be just a hair too thin, causing the endstop to sit angled, instead of facing straight down.
3) When pushed back up into UP position, sometimes the probe won't be pushed fully up, or it will be pushed up and slightly pushed towards the back of the printer. One of my first prints with the new arm was ruined because the endstop button was hitting the extruded plastic by the tiniest amount. On mine, it looks like the nub on the left arm is slightly out of shape causing it to not fully snap into the UP position.
Before I make any changes to the .stl I'd love it if someone else, with a Workbench or Apprentice, could print one of these and test it out. Our Workbench circles are imperfect and some of our printed dimensions might be off, so I want to be sure when I change something it'll work for everyone with a properly calibrated machine.
Someone posted another one also.
