Topic: Belt got stuck now printing to the right.

Hi.

Some filament some how got stuck on the belt that goes right to left. I just caught it in time.
But now when I print everything has moved over to the right.

What's the best way to move the centre back over to the left? It's the Duo 2.0A

Thank.

Usually homing will reset the location for your next print.

Re: Belt got stuck now printing to the right.

^This.. unless the position of your X home sensor was physically moved the printer should self correct for center agsin simply by homing all axis either through the host or the LCD.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

Re: Belt got stuck now printing to the right.

Thanks guys I will try it now and post back  smile

Nope still the same  sad

What about if I loosen the X spring tensioner and move the duel extruder head a bit to the left.
By moving the belt a few notches? I'm totally lost.

Thanks guys.

You have to understand how a printer works. Once the head goes out onto the build platform it really has no clue where it is other than it knows it moved X steps one way then X steps another way. The only true coordinate that the printer knows and all moves or calculated from is the home position which is the sensor at the end of each axis.

So the question is, when you home the print head does each endstop actually activate? From what you are describing now and what is seen as far as the print goes, either your bed has been shifted to the left several millimeters or you entire X/Y gantry has shifted right several millimeters. The gantry shifting is nearly impossible without frame bending. The bed however could be shifted of the guide rods have been bent in opposite directions from each other.

Re: Belt got stuck now printing to the right.

Thanks Carl.

I'll look into the endstops now. I'm going to take the twin extruder off just in case something not right there.

Anything else I could check?  xyz have been no help what so ever. Their support is none existent.

Re: Belt got stuck now printing to the right.

The only other think I could think of is that your firmware has the wrong x0,y0
did you reflash the firmware?

No it's still on an old xyz firmware. I've checked the endstops and they work just fine.
If I flashed repetier would it fix this problem?

To fix the problem you must firsr know what it is.

If you move the head out to the middle of the print bed by hand then on the LCD select Home All does each axis actually hit the endstop and then back off a hair or do they stay against their physical stops?

If you by hand move the head to the back right corner then turn the machine on and select one of the sample does it start in the middle or does it have the same ten or so mm offset to the right?

I moved the head to the middle and pressed home.  It doesn't go to the back of the endstop. It stops as soon as it enters the sensor.

I will try a sample in a bit. I feel like dumping this 6 month old junk. Why XYZ never put a reset button
for the firmware I will never know. Thanks guys.

Re: Belt got stuck now printing to the right.

for some unknown reason the printer won't work with cart that's been reset(used the same cart for months).
Also the re setter says the bed heat has been set to 200!  wtf is going on.

I will have to buy two new carts and go from there.

Re: Belt got stuck now printing to the right.

I tried it once more and the print starts ok then went off the bed(right hand side) by 2 inches so I stopped it.

I did home it and used the duo auto calibration and that went great.
I can't think of what to do next. I've no idea what's causing this.
5 months old and I think it's time to cut my loss.

Re: Belt got stuck now printing to the right.

OMFG Just found out my little brother tried to help and undid the two screws that's
hold the belt to the carriage and move it!

Sorry to ask so much but is there away to reset the X belt? I've tried home all and auto config which work.

Re: Belt got stuck now printing to the right.

It's turns out it's the X axis motor+wiring is playing up and the stop sensor on the X axis is giving me the 0030.
I've tried all I can to fix the 0030 error but it's a no go.

Anyone one know where to buy these in the UK or a EU shop?  XYZ are not helping me  sad

The motor is a 17PM-K342BP03CN

Re: Belt got stuck now printing to the right.

You don't have to have that exact motor. Almost any 4 whire 2A nema17 stepper motor will work.

Thanks for the info  smile
XYZ saw my video of the X axis motor doing strange things and asked for my addy.
I have no idea what they will send if anything but I will post just in case others have this problem.

I know this is a long shot but where can I buy the X axis motor cable?
I'm disabled so messing around with small wires is a no go for me.

17

Re: Belt got stuck now printing to the right.

The cable I would think you would have to get it from xyz unless you make your own.

You are right. XYZ asked me if I want a RMA or replacement parts. I said parts, as the shipping to china would be huge  smile

I have asked if us costumers can buy spares parts and can they give me a price list.
Maybe if more XYZ users ask them they may do it?

Thank for all your help   smile

Re: Belt got stuck now printing to the right.

Look what XYZ support just sent me.

" I was notified that we are unable to ship parts to Europe. The shifting has to do with the X-motor harness."

WTF! so they can ship printers but not parts?
Time to get in touch with my EU rep.
