Topic: Has anyone printed the Platform Jack on their Press?

I attempted to print this, but my copy was too brittle and fell apart. Many parts also stuck together. I will try again with higher heat and less extrusion.

Has anyone succeeded in printing this? If so, what settings worked for you?

Gonna be rough to print this on the press using the standard filament.

If you read carefully: PLA for success, most comments mention ABS print as fail.

That makes sense since ABS is more flexible and gets hotter, therefore takes longer to cool and tends to warp easily.

I meant to reply here sooner with an update. I managed to print the platform jack, although it's definitely not perfect. Let me know how you make it with yours.

I've posted a full writeup with photos on my blog, but I'll summarize the key details here too.

Using Simplify3D, I used these settings:

Scale: 110%
Infill Percentage: 100%
Extrusion Multiplier: 0.85
First Layer Width: 200%
Primary Layer Height: 0.3mm
Temperature: 240 degrees Celsius
Horizontal size compensation: -0.07mm (as recommended by 3D Printing Nerd on YouTube)

Very cool was that printed with PLA?

No, that is ABS! I haven't mastered PLA, and forum posts here indicate it is quite difficult.

I think the limitations of ABS and the Press created many the problems evident in my print, compared to many other makes on Thingiverse which look better. But it works anyway!

I also forgot to mention that it took 5 hours.

Cool I'll give it a try then

I managed to print, and I didn't get any of that warpage you got. I used cura as my slicer and went for some supports (bad idea) however the outside structure was quite good.

the inside of it was seized shut by the default raft cura makes - so that was a no no but it seems that with 100% infill and some careful tooling it might be possible to print it perfectly
