Topic: Alright guys. Need a new stepper driver ASAP.

Need a stepper driver for the old edition 1.0. My extruder driver went out on me and I need one ASAP. I guess I will be going the RAMPS route when I get some time.

Willing to pay good coin for a stock & working driver shipped to 77380.

For one stepper? Ouchie! tongue

Carl, do you know if an A4988 stepper driver would work with appropriate jumpers to remedy the geometric differences between the stock driver and 3rd party? I assume I would have to dial in the voltage to "stock" at about 1.32v with the on-board pot as well.

The stock drivers are 4988s. I just dont know if the sockets are pin per pin compatible.

At first glance, it seems as such. While my printer is down anyway, gonna pick up an off-the-shelf 4988 at Microcenter and some jumpers to give it a shot tonight.

OK so it turns out that you can use other stepper drivers in the old style 1.0 main board. Of course the community has already established that the stock XYZ stepper drivers are proprietary due to the geometry, so I used some regular jumpers and an 8 pin header for testing. Currently doing my first print with tuned down stepper current for the extruder. I used a vref of .275v

After a full success print, Ill be doing a full detailed post so people can google search and get to a result that makes sense.
