I am working on a Da Vinci 1.0a for a friend, and went to re-flash the firmware. I shorted the J37 pin, and when i did, the machine displayed 2 black bars, as per the usual.
However, i am now not able to see a COM port in the device manager. I am also noticing that unlike my other Da Vinci, the 3.3v LED D1 is not lit up when the printer is on, while the 5v and 12v LEDs are on. Can anyone help me out on this?
Can you post a picture of the mainboard. The 1.0A is supposed to have a newer board and the erase jumper is in a different location from the 1.0 that uses the older board. It is possible you shorted the wrong jumper and blew the 3.3V rail which also would give you solid bars since the processor will not run without 3.3v.

Sounds correct. Is it possible you touched something else while shorting? Van you measure 3.3 at the power supply coonector marked on the board?

You can test the ohms with a multimeter or just use a light tester

Your diagnosis was correct. Testing with the cheapest multimeter i could find at Harbor Freight revealed a much higher resistance on R57 (400-600) as compared to R47 (4). Shorting the 3.3v input to the other side of the fuse brought back normal operations.

What problems occured when your r47 blown as my led screen has stopped working and my extruder isnt heating up also r47 is show ing a resistance of 86

My printer was doing the same thing it sounds like the same problem and as far as replacing that fuse it is a pain its very small you will need a lot of patients there is also a video on YouTube showing how to replace them.
Thanks bud for the quick response I can tell it's gonna be a bugger to change lol think will take it to local shop that deals with surface mount components did you find out how your fuse blew in the first place

90% of the time they blow because you use the wire brush to clean the head while it is heating. There are exposed wires at the end of the heater and the brush shorts across them.
Mine blew because i was trying to fix the board that the thermistor hooks to I was trying to resolder the board and ended up blowing the fuse I guess I had soldered a little too much

I'm having a similar problem but not exactly. I was trying to install some cooling fans to my DaVinci 1.0a and accidently shorted one of the four black power wires. (Not sure which ones). Since then my printer has had the two black bars on its LCD and is doing nothing else. Both R57 and R47 resistors have the same resistance, all three voltage LEDs are on (3.3V, 5V and 12V).
Neither the bed or extruder heat and my computer rarely detects anything is connected. Occationally coming up with "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) A request for the USB device descriptor failed." Apart from that the main Atmel chip gets very hot but it doesn't do anything.
Any thoughts?

I just joined after finding this post. I know this is an old post but I have just purchased a second had da vinci 1.0A. with the exact problem originally described. The 3.3V LED is not lit up. After a day of frustration trying to reset the bios for a bios reflash, I started searching and found this post.
As described and testing it appears to be the fuse on the 3.3V rail. I just ordered some of the 0603 K fuse described in the post.
My questions is: Is it possible to use a Resettable fuse instead? Some thing along the lines of http://nz.rs-online.com/web/p/resettabl … s/7874259/
