Topic: Davinci Jr Not being able to Clean

Hi I have just purchased a Davinci Jr on Saturday, and my first few prints were great however the quality has dropped dramatically.

Prints are lifting at the corners, and a very poor texture and even prints failing.

I have read online about cleaning the head (most likely from this forum but I have read info in so many places my head is spinning) anyway, when I go into the head cleaning it sits around 189oC for over 10 minutes and never prompts me to clean the printhead - do you think that this points to a problem with the heating mechanism. I have raised a fault with XYZ and I am waiting a reply but thought you guys & girls may be able to confirm my suspicion

Thanks in Advance

Mine doesn't prompt me either. I just take out whatever it spits out, and then stops it whenever I have.

Regarding the corners warping, its another issue; you can probably find a solution by reading http://support.3dverkstan.se/article/23 … ting-guide. Instead of "a very hot bed" you probably have "too little attachment" to the bed (no heatbed in the jr) - or maybe too poor airflow ? Did you use the adhesive tape ? I had very poor quality when i used pure glass with glue; once i added the tape, it all went great. I still get some of the problems you have though.

Im just a beginner, but hope you can use the input :-)

Re: Davinci Jr Not being able to Clean

Even though they say you don't have to level it a lot of people have found that you do need to set it as the factory istn always that good at getting it level before they ship.

a non level bed can also affect curling

Re: Davinci Jr Not being able to Clean

Thanks for the input, it shows in the manual that it should tell you when it is ready to be cleaned. I am still waiting to get confirmation from xyzprinting to see if this is an error in the instructions or a problem with my printer.

@ChunkLady I have been using the provided tape since I purchased the printer I am now on my 3rd and final sheet as I thought the curl may be caused by the tape however no change, at the weekend I will purchase some good quality Painters Tape to see if it resolves the curl issues. Also you mention about poor airflow - do you mean too much airflow around the printer, I keep the door open in my office as it gets very hot in there so there is a constant airflow - could that be too much?

Re: Davinci Jr Not being able to Clean

Well as a little update I have had chance to spend the afternoon experimenting with the printer and I found that by moving the z-offset 0.5mm closer to the bed has improved print quality drastically, for reference my z-offset was factory set to 1.6mm it is now 1.55mm and the prints are better. still going to get some Painters tape on the weekend to see if it will improve the prints further
