Topic: First layer blobbing after switching to repetier

Hi all,

This morning I switched my davinci 1.0A to repetier and started using repetier host so I could use other brands of filament. All went well until I tried printing. It seems like no matter what I do the first layer messes up by forming globs when the initial outer part is first placed down, then the globs get picked up by the hotend and everything gets taken with it, leaving a giant blob of plastic stuck to the bed and head. I am using xyz's yellow PLA with the curaengine slicer and have tried:

-glue, painter's tape, and hairspray to hold down the layer.
-ranging extruder temperature from 185-200C
-ranging bed temperature from room temp to 50C
-reducing flow to 90%
-printing very slowly at 10mm/s
-manually leveling the bed with 1 and 2 pieces of paper

I am new to repetier and repetier host so please forgive my naivety if I'm missing something obvious.  This wasn't happening when using xyzware just before switching. I'm sure this has been addressed at some point, but I can't find help for it. If anyone can send me a link or point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.

Try 190 and 90 with the Blue painters tape. For PLA you can also leave the bed cold with blue painters tape. A picture if possible is also worth a thousand words.

You need to level the bed again (manually) after you flash to Repetier.

I'm not sure what changed, but now the first layer is holding down a bit better. The globs are still forming and being picked up, but the rest of the layer is sticking enough so the whole thing doesn't get picked up. The rest of the print came out fine, but the first layer had  imperfections. Here's a picture

The picture makes it seem like it's warping from cooling and not sticking to the bed, but keep in mind it's PLA on a room temperature bed. The corners in the picture were lifted when the extruder passed over them a second time and picked up the filament, but eventually they were weighed down enough to be printed on so it didn't mess up the entire print.

This picture was taken when using the default CuraEngine settings except for:

90% Flow
195C extruder temperature
25C Bed temperature
85% print speed

I didnt have much luck with the hairspray myself, did you just try a glue stick?  How smooth to the touch is the first layer?  cant really tell from the picture, is there large ridges?

I would recommend setting the extrusion multiplier back to 100% and tuning in the esteps, that was the biggest thing on my machine when i switched over, i ended up at 95.
