Re: Da Vinci printer Cartridge "factory" reset

Hi Psjtom,

Below is a eeprom dump of my natural ABS roll I received with my machine after using a few meters. Should help you change the material type. For some reason mine stores 40 instead of 41 but it works for me :-)

Highlighted the bit you need to change :-)

Re: Da Vinci printer Cartridge "factory" reset

Steve

I overlooked that section mistakenly.  Thanks I will try that tonight.

Even though it was wrong material code, I used correct PLA temps for bed and extruder still would not print correctly.  The extruder even clogged up w PLA after I cancelled, and same results w several prints.

I'm curious if anyone has PLA printing issues?

My work 3d Makerbot works best w PLA.  So far w ABS, w my XYZ I am able to get as good of a quality print as compared to MB costing 4 times as much.

Thanks

Re: Da Vinci printer Cartridge "factory" reset

None of the XYZ machines can print PLA unless they are the 1.0A, the 2.0, and the AiO. Then they can only print with the XYZ brand PLA. Not third party brands. The issue is with the head design. The feed tube gets too hot at the higher temps required for third party PLA and it causes the filament to swell and jam. XYZ does sell an improved head for 100 bucks but again it will only print XYZ brands PLA. XYZ formulates their PLA to work at around 170 while other work at 190 to 230.A few memebers such as Scobo have added additional heat sinking around the feed pipe and too it and have been able to use even woodfill and flexibles. But with out modes you are limited to XYZ PLA on all Da Vinci models.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!
Anycubic 4MAX best $225 ever invested.
Voxelabs Proxima SLA. 6 inch 2k Mono LCD.
Anycubic Predator, massive Delta machine. 450 x 370 print envelope.

Re: Da Vinci printer Cartridge "factory" reset

psjtom,  I tried printing PLA on my 1.1 plus.. same results as you even at lower temps it still clogged up. This is why I've spent the last week pulling my hair out.. lol.  My reprap I built over 2 years ago did PLA fine but struggled with ABS so I thought PLA should be easy.. how wrong could I be... lol

Thankfully I'm now able to print PLA and ABS both with great results now I've modded my printer (yes only 2 weeks old!) with a mk8 extruder like the one in the photo below;

It's made a big difference :-)

Re: Da Vinci printer Cartridge "factory" reset

Awesome. I guess I'm not to that point yet. I don't have enough experience w mk8 or mod.  Wish there were more info out there.

I'm still excited about your TFT uno.  Waiting for your final results.

Thanks for sharing.

Re: Da Vinci printer Cartridge "factory" reset

So. I finaly got the eeprom flashing to work. I thought.

I put in value e230 for extruder.
and b050 for bed.

I also put in the same values in the simplify3d.

I have just started a print and the printer preheats:
its now stay solid on 212 for extruder and its up on 87 and rising on the bed temp. =/

Did anyone get this to work correct. dont think its a good idea to print PLA with a bed thats 90degree C =/

EDIT: And suddenly the extruder stopped to feed the PLA.. Totaly stop, and clicked alot from the feeder.
Didnt work to go in to the menu and feed the filament.. Changed back to ABS and it worked fine again.. =/

Re: Da Vinci printer Cartridge "factory" reset

@landin81 - I have a DaVinci 1.0A and Firmware version 1.0.1 and it works well with that.

Do you have a newer firmware version and XYZ printing firmware is blocking the settings?

I have the 1.0.6 firmware and simplify3d

Re: Da Vinci printer Cartridge "factory" reset

I must say after spending three weeks with my plus I was still frustrated at the whole cartridge reset and xyz blocking firmware.  In addition I prefer PLA over ABS just due to the fact the material is harder and better suited for my drone building needs.  Btw I have two complete UNO and Nano with chip reset dongles if anyone wants to make me an offer, it will be on ebay soon.

Anyway, I returned to Amazon and ordered ROBO R1 instead.  I can't tell you how much fun and delightful to be able to print consistently and there are so many addons I have done that has made the printer even more of a useful tool.  I added Octoprint and LCD display so now I can do any type of prints remotely including monitoring w a 5mb webcam and video still recording a playback.  I never need to attach a computer to the printer.  It is always connected to raspi and I just use the web ui.  I can reset, change temps, send gcode, converts stl to gcode w cura, so many more...

Thanks all in this forum for previous help.  I'm on a more joyous road now.

Glad to hear that. I was considering one of those as well. I just gotta sell my 2.0.

Re: Da Vinci printer Cartridge "factory" reset

Hello men,
I added a few lines in the code from https://www.voltivo.com/da-vinci-1-0-fi … n-arduino/
so that the material can be easily changed.
Works without any problems.
Just remove the commentary of the correct material

//Materials

//char mt[] = {0x41}; //ABS
//char mt[] = {0x50}; //PLA
char mt[] = {0x46}; //Flex

Re: Da Vinci printer Cartridge "factory" reset

hi,

I am the owner of an da vinci 1.1 plus and it is just for the optic but, is it possible to change the displaying color?
so I have an natural cartridge but filled with blue so in my opinion it should display also blue.

by the way the rest is perfectly working I added some more temps. for my use. And boom the cartridge is like new.

Re: Da Vinci printer Cartridge "factory" reset

for the color optical problem I found this thread with the color list.

I edited the script of chmp with the optional material settings and added the color options with all available colors so you can choose the right for your filament.

Re: Da Vinci printer Cartridge "factory" reset

I wonder why you guys bother playing with these chips. There is a lot information how to flash to repetier firmware or to cheat printer that has empty chip and print with any temperature you want, any length of filament.

Or you want to keep warranty, or you use some newest hardware revisions and flashing is not possible like da vinci Jr, Mini, Nano and maybe some others , otherwise there is no point.
