Did you Make sure to tighten the hot end correctly. If you don't it wont work with PLA.
Did you try the oil trick?
Mine I had tightened it down correctly but I went back and double checked. It was tight. also remember your not tightening the head against the block but the heat break. if you tightened the head against the block go loosen it up and then tighten the heat break against it. Then heat it up for the final tighten. It is really important to follow their installation instructions.
So even after I double checked that I did tighten it correctly I was still getting the clicking. on the 2nd or 3rd layer. So I checked on the E3d forum and that is what I saw suggested. tried it and I haven't had any problems printing with PLA.
As far as the temp goes what I did to find what works with the filament I use is start at 200 for the temp on the roll of pla drop it 5 and keep doing that until it clicks when printing in the air. (the plastic isn't melting then) and then bring it back up 10. if it didn't print at 200 then increases it by 5 till it does and then add 10. This has worked good for me so far on PLA. Each roll needs to be checked but once you find it for that roll you don't have to change it for the roll.
Also check your filament diameter. If it varies a lot and gets over 1.75 by a lot then this could also be your problem. Generally it should be under 1.75 or slightly larger on mine the tolerance is +,- .1 (listed at .05) but from my own measuring it is .1 I have some IC3D and solutech that list +- .1 but are closer to .05 by my measurement.
