Topic: Hi from South Carolina

I'm looking forward to trying out this 3d printing..  I have ordered a Kossel 2020 delta printer kit..  I do have some experience in building equipment..  I was part of the computer revolution, but missed out on the money. (something to due with youth) I like to tinker with small stuff and make it work........   Soooooo let the aggravation begin!!!!  muhahahahaha!!!!

Welcome, and enjoy your stay.

So you like aggravation do you? Well with that kit you will get plenty. Don't get me wrong it is a fun kit but there are issues with it as you will find.

One hint, I hope you have a good hardware store like a True Value around you for the missing and wrong size metric parts.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

Welcome to your new obsess... er, I mean hobby. big_smile

The Folgertech 2020 Prusa i3 is a fair kit - we have one. Once you do get it up and running, I highly recommend you print out replacement parts as soon as possible (the stl files are on their website), along with a couple of upgrades for it. Or, ask around for someone to print them for you (they really should be done in ABS)

the upgrades are these:

Y belt tensioner set (use the low-profile version): http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:188958
Better thumb wheels for bed leveling: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:29782
MUCH better extruder housing (you will need a spring from your local hardware store): http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:650957
and if you are so inclined, an X belt tensioner set - designed specifically for the Folgertech 2020 (you will lose a few mms of X space, but it is far better than sloppy belts): http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:872944

Also, when you get your kit, thoroughly inspect the Ramps board, especially the back side, for sloppy soldering & excess solder flux left on it. There have been issues on some of the early ones. Hopefully they have that QC issue sorted out by now.

SD4 #1 & #2 - Lawsy carriages, E3D v6, Rumba controller board, mirror bed plate, X motor fan, upgraded PSU & Mica bed heater
SD4 #3 - in the works ~ Folgertech FT-5, rev 1
