Topic: Da Vinci 1.0A cant print PLA overhangs.

Hello my Davinci 1.0A running Repetier host and an E3D v6 can't print overhangs. If I add support material it looks worse than on my friends Prusa I3 without support. The temperature I am printing with is 200 °C (If I lower the temperature it starts clicking) on the Extruder and 85° C for the first layer and 70 ° for the other layers on the Bed. If I am watching the prints the material comes out very fast and just drip all the way down to the bed. My Slic3r settings are: Bridges: 20 mm/s and Gap fill: 20mm/s. I don't have a cooling fan that cools the material. Do I just need to add a cooling fan ?

PLA needs to be well ventilated and also check your extrusion multiplier I was under extruding for a long time

I'm not familiar with repetier host I have simplify3D I want to say there is a tab on there that will let you change the extution multiplier

When i print PLA i run the bed at 0.  Pla doesnt require a heated bed and it normally just screws things up.  Also you really need a layer fan for overhangs, the material needs to set quickly.

If you are over or under extruding you can change your steps on your repetier firmware right on the printer, the default is 99, i had to set mine to 95, i was getting way to much material making lots of blobs.

Actually if you look at any high end PLA printer such as Makerbot, they all print on an unheated bed and use blue painters tape. There is nothing wrong with it and it is very common and dependable. What you want. or don't want, and what is standard procedure may not always be the same thing.

Now if you insist on not using tape, then you can make sure your bed is adjust to about a .15mm gap, use Elmers purple glue sticks or Kapton tape. PLA sticks well to hot Kapton and still leaves the glass finish on the bottom of the print.
