Topic: press strange behavior

hello! i had had my printer working great for about two days after adjusting trimpot, extruder calibration, feed rate, etc, but after updating rh its all gone to crap
all of my settings are still there, but for some reason it had reversed z, which i solved by selecting invert z in settings, and the hot end is dragging throught my prints
i went throught z offset in soliprint just to make sure that wasnt the issue, but it seems to be fine
i also get occasional grinding
another note, i tried using cura right before all of this happened and the head was crashing into the case

any help would be hugely appreciated

Re: press strange behavior

also, after printing the print bed fully lowers, which is new
thats neither here nor there, but still odd

Re: press strange behavior

Only thing I can think of is if the setting for how big youre printer is, is off or too big of a size than it really is. However im just a beginner and this is my first printer and im still learning. Also if it was working fine before, i dont see why it would not be working fine now. Hope you can fix it! I would just look over youre printer settings and sizes and try again!

Yeah it's my first printer too, and it's been quite a headache! Haha
I had double checked the printer size and it's still set to solidoodle's recomended setting
I was thinking I might have a loose belt, but I can't figure out how to access the screws that need to be tightened
And that wouldn't explain the random z axis inversion

I'm thoroughly stumped

Re: press strange behavior

seems like i had some redundant g-code
besides the start and end options i had checked in the printer settings in rh, it also had start and end g-code, as well as some more code in slic3r
i deleted all of the code from both slic3r and rh and it seems to work much better
still confused to as why z is inverted and why it probes after a finished print

Re: press strange behavior

Just go back the version of RH that works. Most of the updates or for things so small now or support for newer printers that you won't even notice them. I was always taught that newest is not best and it has become a rule I live by. Also if it is not broken or having issues don't fix it.

With these printers as both of you are new the best thing you can always do when something happens after an update and such is go back to what worked.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

yeah i had a feeling that it was a bad idea to update since i finally had things working
i just wish that i had taken not of what version i was on before! haha
it seems like everything is working right at the moment though, i added a end g-code that i found in these forums and that seems to have done the trick
only odd thing is the reversed z, but whatever

(edit) nevermind, still probing z after print job

Re: press strange behavior

The last 4 lines of that code is the lines causing the probe. That is being added by either your slicer or your host. Firmware does not make changes to gcode. So some where either in slicer end gcode or host end gcode that probe step is being added.

in slic3r, i had deleted everything in the g-code section
in my printer settings, i have

start
G21; set mm units
G28 X0 Y0; home x and y axes
G29; probe bed
M190 S[first_layer_bed_temperature] ; set and wait for bed temp to be reached
M104 S[temperature] ; set extruder temp and start heating
G90; set absolute coordinates
G1 Z5 F300 ;move platform down 5mm
G1 X10 Y10 F3000 ;move to front left corner
M109 S[temperature]; wait for extruder temp to be reached
G1 Z[first_layer_height] F200 ;move platform close to nozzle
G92 E0; reset extrusion distance
G1 E7 ;extrude anchor

end
G28 X0 Y0  ; home X axis and y axis
G1 Z150 F300 ; lower platform to bottom
M104 S0 ; kill extruder temperature
M140 S0 ; kill bed temperature
M84 ; disable motors

could it be something in the eeprom? i was thinking of restoring the default settings and then redoing z offset and extruder steps

Re: press strange behavior

actually what i think it might be is that i had had "go to park position after job/kill (203-200-100)" selected
as well as my g code telling the bed to lower after the print
so maybe?
im going to give it a try tomorrow

Re: press strange behavior

Still probing z
Even after unchecking to park after job
