Topic: Upgraded to new Repetier, Solidoodle 3 wont print

Hey all,

I just upgraded to the new Repetier v1.5 and my SD3 wont print. I can connect and can control x,y,z, and extruder with manual controls. Home works fine also. I can also turn on the heat bed and hot end via manual control. Everything seems to work except when I hit the "print" button the printer just sits there.

I haven't tried it yet, hopefully it's a simple fix.

Am I missing something in the start code that makes solidoodles work?

Re: Upgraded to new Repetier, Solidoodle 3 wont print

Are you preheating before you click start or just slicing and then clicking start. If the later then you have to wait for the machine to come up to temp before any movement or attempt to print is made.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

Yes, I wait for heatbed and nozzle to heat before hitting print. then Nothing happens, just sits there.

When's the last time you updated your firmware?
You should be using this one.

Good question. I upgraded my firmware to the latest at the same time as upgrading repetier.

Re: Upgraded to new Repetier, Solidoodle 3 wont print

I am guessing the firmware you flashed has auto-level enabled.  This means your printer is waiting for that information.
You should switch to the version I have linked above.

Re: Upgraded to new Repetier, Solidoodle 3 wont print

I did have a different firmware so I re-flashed with the one pointed out above by wardjr. Thank you for the help, I didn't know there were 4 branches of it.

It didn't solve the problem but did lead me to the answer by accident LOL.

The reason it wasn't printing was because the bed temp hadn't been reached. In .85 repetier only nozzle temp had to be reached before starting to print. I don't understand because when I look at the Gcode I don't see anything that says wait for bed temp.

In any event, thank you for the help

Just happy you found the problem.  It's been a very long time since I've used v.85 but seems bed temp has always needed to be met.

Worth a check: R-H has it's own set of start and end g-codes, in addition to the ones you probably already have configured in slic3r.
The bed set-and-wait (M190) command might be lurking in there.

After slicing, go to the 'Preview' tab, then underneath select the 'G-Code Editor' tab, and from the dropdown box select "Start Code" - if you're using slic3r for your start code, there should be nothing in there!
