Hello All,
I cannot make my Davinci 1.0 work with Simplify 3d?? Its as if the extruder is too close to the bed maybe? I get a clicking noise and the extruder moving around the bed but not laying any filament down. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
First thing you should do is level your bed with the paper method. Once that is done check your speeds, I have simplify working decently now after a lot of bs but the stock speeds in simplify seem to fast for the machine. Even then I still can't get simplify to print tiny parts as nice as the default slicer.
I'm just waiting to get pissed off enough to put repetier on, I'm convinced the stock firmware has something in it to mess with 3rd party slicers.

I assure you it does. I use S3D on my RAMPS based Da Vinci and I am able to print rods that are 3mm in diameter at 40+mm/s and they come out flawless. Even at 60mm/s they are still near perfect.

I concur with Carl - S3d even with stock hardware flashed with Repetier, produces some of the best prints any of my printers have made, down to 0.1mm layers reliably - so long as the bed leveling and height are carefully set.
You guys are right. I used Carls paper method for leveling the bed and that seems to have me printing. Can I adjust the speed in simplify settings for faster prints on larger pieces where quality doesent matter as much? How have you guys adjusted settings to help with the speed of prints when quality isnt the most important. WHats max speed you have set for your davinci?

I've pushed mine - probably too far, up to as much as 3000 and beyond. It took it for a while, but has developed noises over time, and I've backed off again to 1800. The noises are lessened there, but still present.
I seemed to have one of the lucky ones from the start, that was very quiet and never had any issues, so the sounds now are disturbing. Once I've got the Kossel finished, I'll look into belt tightening/pulley replacement/whatever might be the source - but it still prints fine even though it's loud now and I like to keep at least one running, to support repairs or mod work on the others 
I don't advise going beyond about 2400 very often, if ever.
Edit: To be a little more clear, after S3d's upgrade to 3.0, I've left the speed settings at the defaults, which does have movement set to 3600 mm/m but the max printing speed at 1800.
I am running mine at 60 mm/s with no issue. Yes I changed my software to mm/s that mm/m is just a pain to figure out. But for those still doing the mm/m that would be 3600 which is the max you should be running a Da Vinci at.

I have tried mine at 3600(60mm/s) because i have heard it is capable.... and technically it is but with stock firmware it sounds like its going to rip itself apart. I know the driver amperage is different on repetier so im sure that makes a difference.
If you have your driver current set right the fan on the power supply is the loudest part of the printer while printing.
Hmmm, this could be the push I need to make the switch to repetier. My wife complains like hell about the noise.
