If there was a machine that jets a liquid resin that is cured immediately with a UV laser would that be basically an Objet printer? I was thinking if that technology could be mastered for consumer use except with a single jet or four jets at most we could make much higher quality items assuming print time isn't the hugest issue.
I like the way you think, Rocketman. There is at least one 3d printing pen "out there" that uses UV LEDs to cure the resin as it is ejected from the pen nozzle. A smaller nozzle with a precise dispensing method should not be particularly challenging to create. Peristaltic feed systems can be extremely precise. I don't know what the surface tension characteristics of UV curable resin present in terms of technical difficulty, but if the surface tension is high enough, a bead of resin should bond to the build plate and to subsequent layers. Surface tension would come into play with respect to layer supports too, but I doubt that's insurmountable.
I hope someone is working on the concept or sees your suggestion and kickstarts something.
I just know form1 tech is too pricy for me, and even they have had legal issues as far as the priority of the tech they use. Maybe there would need to be very precise pressure control to adjust to how full or empty the resin reservoir is.

Looks impressive although can't really see resolution in video. For $100 I imagine it is tempting to get without much research, but from what you know what are draw backs? Cost of material, health when handling material, time to complete items, resolution, material durability and biodegradability? Overall print area? What are cons?

material durability and biodegradability? Not as durable as ABS but can be used for mold negatives to cast more durable items. i only use ABS for now so not worried about it being bio or not.
Overall print area? Scalable so no real limit. They claim it can print a full size canoe.
What are cons? Won't know till i get one.
Do you imagine vibration in the ground could be a real issue if the water ripples a little? Do they have opaque colors? Do they have their own printer software or do you have to use Blender? Personally I never got along with that software.
I would wonder about layer adhesion. You'd run the risk of the resin hardening before it bonds with the previous layer if the laser hits the drop before the drop hits the rest of the print.
Personally, I'm thinking about making a DLP printer. Perhaps I will treat myself to one after I figure out how this whole 3d modelling thing works.
The peachy does not use drops, it scans a layer at a time. The resin is made so it does not need to be hot from the previous layer. It will bond to previous layers instantly on exposure to the specific UV wavelength of the laser.
The issue is post curing as the resin is not fully cured by the laser. For this you hsve to build a UV oven with UV led strips or fluorescent bulbs.

A lot of people have decent success leaving their prints out in the sun as well.
Here is a printer that seems to do what you are describing. It is squirting a gel that gets UV cured as it is extruded. It's still a massive industrial machine however.
