Topic: Is it possible to replace the brains of the Da Vinci?
My printer powers down after about 20 minutes of printing. I've checked the extruder and and there are no loos connections that I can see. When I contacted tech support they told me to send in the printer and they'll charge me for the repair. It's not under warranty anymore so I'm good with that, but shipping is going to cost about a hundred bucks one way plus the cost of the repair and the return shipping I'm looking at nearly the cost of a new printer. Another reason I think the brains are going on it is because when I try to level the bed the Z axis always returns error. I had this issue before and was able to clean the contact points and Bob's your uncle. I even traced it to the board and am able to get a good reading with a multi-meter.
The family got me a Makerfarm Prusa i3v for father's day some I want to see if I can use another printer board like a RAMPS to replace the existing board and see if I can get it to work. If not I'm going to gut it and build a completely new one.
