I think DaVinci is better because requires less fiddling, but uses proprietary filament cartridges so forget about buying filament elsewhere or making your own to save (a lot) of money on filament.

Yeah, this is my front runner for now and I understand about the filament but choices are limited in my price range.

I ahve been checking the printer out but I can't seem to find any UK stockists. With import taxes and shipping, it will increase the price well above a Da Vinci which I can get in the UK. I will keep looking though.

bout same, some come with software disc or instructions for set up, some also have more features to deal with in set up. main thing now with SD is sites like this one give way more support than most other brands or new brands plus lots of stl files on thingaverse for replacement/mod parts for SD2-3 at least SD4 is similar to SD3. while your shopping (and waiting to see next new models) look at some Delta types that meet your needs also. dont compromise features that you may want once your more familiar with your 3D printing needs. some cant be added later without buying another printer. so yes stay in the low cost bracket just not too cheap. I got my SD2 near 2 years ago and now looking for way to have same thing but with G-code operated parts cooling fan and duel extruder for rinse off support material. since powder type printers are way out of reach for home use for years to come. (they can do bit better fine detail with no support). none print fast so big low cost prints are not within 3D printer ability still. just remember that when thinking what to print.

For now I am thinking of a low cost, pre assembled printer that doesn't need THAT much fiddling with. It is more curiosity and loving new technology rather than actually having a defined plan of what I actually what to print or what it might lead to.

When are the new models due? I was looking at the Di Vinci 2.0 too, but can't find a UK stockist at present.

I have been looking into 3D printing. Mostly because I like technology and new toys (expensive toy) and I am intrigued by 3D printing and what it could being in the future. And it just seems cool.

Anyway, I am looking to spend up to around £400-500 and looking for:

A pre assembled printer
Plug and play (I appreciate they all need some fiddling from what I have been reading)
Heated bed

Now I know for that price I can not expect perfection and seem to have narrowed my choice down to the below, but I am a complete NOOB so any thoughts and opinions are appreciated.

I was thinking either:

Da Vinci 1.0

Or

Solidoodle 4
