The closest I found was a thread titled "mk5-extruder-new-and-improved" on this forum (the forums won't let me post a link)
Is there a write-up on installing this? I just don't want to make a mistake and destroy things. It looks like I should take apart some of the existing acrylic to fit this. This, and the pictures in that other thread, make me wonder if I need a couple more parts printed?

wardjr, thanks for the link, I was just coming back to this thread to look for suggestions on mounting! I'll have to send that STL to my local hackerspace to get a print.

Nico_hk, great idea. I'll probably look into multiple nozzle sizes once I'm up and running.

A suggestion, I don't know how much you print but also consider getting different size nozzles, the bigger nozzles give faster printing time but the lines are more visible on the top solid layers and the smaller ones are the opposite.

+1 on the E3D, i've been running a v5 for some time now and it's very accurate and reliable.

Note that it's not quite a drop-in replacement though (it's unlikely anything would be) - read around a bit on how to install it, the replacement extruder required and firmware updates for your board. Don't be afraid though, there's nothing involved that some patience and a tinkerer's mind won't solve.

Has anyone upgraded the nozzle on their Solidoodle? What do I need to look for in a new nozzle, how can I tell what will be compatible with my Solidoodle 3?

I've broken my nozzle and need to order a new one. I was thinking about trying to upgrade, I would like a nozzle that can print at 270 C if possible.
