But, there still isn't any details on the bootloader. I'm lead to believe it runs the CDC or DFU bootloader, but it may run HalfKay.
However, given its a 'rev E' derivative like Spuds, I'd assume that you need to basically follow http://reprap.org/wiki/Printrboard instructions for loading firmware - making note of the need to attach a jumper to the BOOT pins and resetting the board to get it into bootloader mode.

Yes the lawsy firmware will work - but not just yet as I haven't tested it so don't risk it - i need to verify some pin assignments. So for now - download the solidoodle firmware from the above url, but make the same changes to their Configuration.h files for the thermistor and min/max temperature.

You could do a fix like they do on the UP printers, a workaround where you change the resistance at thr thermistor to 'fake' the printer into high/different temps.

My last one came with the crimp connectors as well... the only thing it did not come with was a tiny piece of aluminum foil or some fire clay and you really don't need the fire clay as the foil works great smile They are very!!! simple to put together with a minimum of tools (pliers) and hex drivers to work on the SD.

The order page clearly states "At this time we are only shipping DIY kits"

Judging by the instructions, you'll need pliers, kapton tape (probably 1/4" width) and an adjustable wrench.  All the rest of the instruction just require that you assemble by hand.  Looks like the kit even comes with couple of a hex wrenches for the screws.

Edit:
Looks like you'll also need to crimp connectors on to the ends and ensure that identical connectors are on the Solidoodle Heater.  The fan will need to be powered as well, or you'll end up melting down the x-axis carriage.  Can't help you with that one...
