Okay I will have to see if I can get some glass sometime soon but I am going to test my leveling job after eyeballing it and using the paper method. Thank you for your help so far. This has been really helpful so I can understand what I am doing. I got it to work now and it is printing fantastically!! So one other thing that I am worried about is the bundled up cord that connects to the extruder mount and feeds back into the back of the printer; it keeps getting caught between the extruder and the rail piece when it goes to clean the second extruder and it doesn't let the process go completely. Do you know of a trick to keep the bundled wires from drooping down so that it clears the rail completely?

Thanks again for the help!

Many don't have one so the paper is the next best thing. You want a very squished first layer to assure adherence to the bed with glue.

Also as with many of the XYZ machine your bed may be warped. It may be higher or lower in the middle than the edges so you may have to meet a happy medium if it is.

If you read through the XYZ section you will see the issues with their machines. The first thing you will want to do is get 3mm tempered glass cut to put over the existing glass be fore it starts chipping and that will also help with the warping if yours has it.

Put it over the glass just in front or behind the metal tabs depending on your position. Don't run the auto method after doing the manual procedure.

it's really not an alternate method. Until very recently when some machine began to have an auto feature, this was the ONLY way to level beds. So far to date it is still the most reliable.

Okay so if I wanted to set that then how would I go about it? All I can tell is that the second extruder is always too low and shaves the print a lot. I feel like it might get damaged if I don't figure this out soon. Where would I go to find those settings or change it. Is it on the printer itself or the file that I am printing or the xyzprinting software that I am using? I am only using one color for the print by the way

Is it possible that the first extruder is broken and dispensing irregular portions of the filament and making each layer stand too high? I can't tell.

I don't think you understood me. When you do a dual color print, the software considers one extruder the primary, and one the secondary. When you plan or design a dual color print you design it so the first color to be laid down will be done by the primary extruder which will be the lower of the two. All dual extruder printers are designed this way. It is up to the operator to setup the software and load the correct extruder so the first color to be printed will be from the lower extruder.

By setting it up this way the secondary head can still print but won't hit the previous layer that the primary head puts down.

All you need to know is the printer will print the perimeters first and then the infill so plan accordingly.

The other thing to keep in mind is many don't buy a dual extruder for two colors. They buy it so the second extruder will use HIPS or PVA filament for supports which can bee dissolved in water if PVA and some sort of citrus based solvent if HIPS.

Use the lower head as your primary and do all your prints from it.. Otherwise you will need to shim the mount on the lower head a bit with folded tin foil. On a dual head setup one head is always a bit lower and that is supposed to be your primary.

I recently acquired an XYZ da Vinci 2.0 duo 3d printer and I can't seem to get the other head to stop rubbing on my print. When the one extruder starts to print, the other one will rub off and shred up the layer that it is working on. It will especially break off and move the first layer as the printer gets started. Is there anything I can do to stop this from happening? I even had the printer run on 0.4 layer height and it does the same thing as if it were lower. I've spent endless hours trying to calibrate it differently so that it won't be too close but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions?
