Wow, very nice prints! Have you tried a smaller layer height?

I have been a little inactive these past weeks, but I have now been printing with PLA without problems!
All I do is take off the sides of the printer, lower the extruder fan, and put a desk fan in front of it. Keeps it nice and cool, makes the layers look nice too! I use Hatchbox PLA, first time using it and got to say it has been very high quality compared to Shaxon PLA from Fry's, no clogging at all.
After I gather the loot, I'll order some woodfill/bronzefill/copperfill and see what comes up.

I don't have any pictures, because I have given/sold my models to friends. In my next post I'll show some pics of some prints, and my setup.

I have the Duo as well, been getting pretty good at ABS, but want to do PLA and Ninja flex, looking at the pictures of the hot end tubes, it looks like I may be able to make a aluminum heatsink that will replace the nuts that hold the hot end in the frame, just have to make some measurements and get it as close to the drive wheels as possible. Also could it be possible to insulate the tip of the hot end?

Just a quick update for anyone who tries my fan mod above with PLA.
I went back to printing ABS for the first time in a while and had issues with delamination and nozzle blocking. I moved the the fan back to the stock position and all is well again.
It seems the fan is doing a bit too good a job of cooling the head in that position so make sure you move it back when you go back to printing ABS.

All the highend Makerbots do PLA on blue tape on a cold bed. The only time you use a heated bed for PLA is on bare glass or Kapton tape. PLA does not have the issue of layers separating during cooling like ABS does as long as your fan is also blowing on the nozzle and filament area which it should be.
