You can also use your existing SD4 metal mount (no need to print anything). This is what I did. All you have to do is remove the top lip of the E3D and it fits right in the same hole as the stock heater. See thread below:

The stock PSU is maxed out assuming it operates at its rated max output. Which as it turns out it doesn't.
As for the fan mount goes if you want to do bridging you will want a separate G-code controlled fan. I am not a fan of combined always on fans they usually create more problems than they solve.

How come the stock PSU isn't adequate? I am going to buy the one you recommended but was just curious Also, do you or anyone else know of a good fan mount to cool the tip so that i might be able to bridge larger gaps while printing? Was looking at this one http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:839620

I tried slicing in Repetier with Cura as the slicer and it works perfect. Same thing with the standalone version of Cura.

Try theses fixed ones, Ran them through the Paid version. The Loop one is two pieces in one stl.

i tried printing one last night and it does not print correctly for me, it tries to print in 2 pieces. I tried running it through netfab and it comes back with unfixable errors in the free version.

anyone else experience this?

It's the same, just cleaned it up in solidworks. The clip will work perfect.

I will add the retainer and the snap-off piece that makes it easier to print tomorrow if I have time. It took a while to draw the model for the hotend, but I will be doing an adjustable top soon, followed by a bottom mount extruder fan that won't waste space by side or front mounting it

Glad to hear it worked for you. Maybe I will give it a go, just to keep things simpler for now.
I started work on the extruder and have an updated file that you might like better.

The Lower mount now incorporates a pin to hold the spring in place.

I'm in the same boat about the firmware. Most of the information is for the solidoodle 2,3. It's not super clear. Trying to choose between updating and just switching to a Ramps 1.4 board...
