It is a little lemon shaped on the bottom half and I cant get it to spin on its center axis enough to really get the effect. The shell width might of cut down on that as well. I should of printed it with 1 or 2 less shells, I just wanted to make sure the print would reach completion. Used the solidoodle .3mm profile as a starting point.

so .. whats the iPad mini like ?..

hero academy .. 'stonemull' .. addicted

FWIW .. I attempted a vapour bath using an ultrasonic cleaner, added a few mm of acetone in the bottom, placed a print (crystalline clear) on a wheel nut in the centre and fired up the ultrasonics for 15 seconds. This seemed to not do a lot, so I replaced it and fired it up for a full minute, part came out slightly tacky and damp.
then ... it freaking fell apart in my hands, it was like it was made from eggshells but weaker and far more brittle.
I had it in small pieces with very little effort, 3mm thick print with three perimeters and 10% infill.
I think I rushed this one and pried it off a 100C bed, this seems to leave a fracture line on the body of the material.
I think it shattered along these fracture lines.

This was one of my first crystaline prints and was probably printed at 190, i now use 195 or 200 and gave up on the ultrasonics..

Nice results...

Im an arhctecture student over the pond in the UK and i make alot of acrylic models, laser cutting etc etc and we bond the sheet material together using plastic weld for models, sure its the same in US.

It sounds pretty similar to acetone i guess... it basically melts the surfaces and bonds the material together...

This is mind i had a bit of paint with it on my solidoodle abs models...and its worked pretty well!!! might be useful for touching up areas you want areas smooth!! will ping a photo up when i finish a model with it!!!

I picked up the Presto steamer as outlined by jooshs over in the DIY Smooth Station II thread and wanted to post my photos here for others.

Previously i've tried using a paint brush with acetone onto sanded down prints, doing the 2-4 second dunk in acetone and using ABS glue. None of them had the speed and outcome that I wanted and was very happy to see Ian's larger vapor setup and was all set to build that when jooshs's way easier setup was posted. $25 later, I am pretty happy with the early results.

Here are 2 ipad mini stands using the octave glow in the dark blue filament and their standard pink.

I still have some work to do on perfecting this, but I got a bunch of imperfect yodas to try next.
