In my case, when I press the LCD button ( the kill button, not the rotary encoder ) the printing pauses, Z axis lifts +5mm, X goes to 5, Y to 225 ( which brings the print bed forward for inspection ).  3d printing service India

To resume, I press the rotary encoder button and the printer returns to its print position, and resumes printing.

If I do need to kill, I can use the ParkPause to pause print, and then reset the Arduino board.

A heating (slightly de-focused burning) laser, aimed at the prior layer just where the filament meets it, to ensure a good bond?

Maybe a CD burner laser?

Maybe with a small burning laser, slightly off focus, mounted on the extruder head, aimed just ahead of the point of contact. Heat up the prior layer just before the filament meets it. Only on for that one layer after recovery from crash.

The previous layer gets too cool and you get a poor bond and a weakness at that point you did the resume on.
For artistic parts no big deal. But a load bearing part it could become a liability.
