<![CDATA[SoliForum - 3D Printing Community — Raising temps...]]> 2013-01-22T03:06:13Z PunBB https://www.soliforum.com/topic/1064/raising-temps/ <![CDATA[Re: Raising temps...]]> You seem to be pushing the temperatures up.  I now use 80 for the bed temperature routinely.  I use glass with hair spray.  I think that something else may be wrong, something you're not seeing yet.  Bed leveling and position (how close the extruder is to the bed on the first layer) may be an issue.  Also, I always extrude the first level at 25% of the normal speed.

Keep playing with it: you'll get it after a while!

Will switch to glass when I run out, but I for one can say that kapton tape works.

I use a single edge razor blade to clean the glass and even to get parts off while the bed is still hot. Works good.

I use ABS plastic and the bed is 95C degrees. I run the hot end at 195C to start and it drops to 193C on second layer.

I agree. After going to glass, my level of frustration is way down and the quality of my prints is way up.

Rubbing it down with aceton made things stick to it, after much frustration. So try another kapton, or just a small rub over with aceton.

Thanks everyone.  I am hoping to solve the problems as I go along.  Actually I got a single "adapter" to print and stick last night after I posted my "frustrations".  My problem was bed leveling according to the X/Y movement of the extruder.  It appears that on my unit, the extruder X/Y movement is not exactly level in and of itself (rods off a little?).  Anyway, once I "unlevelled" the bed, it worked better.  Back at it today.  Last day before I have to work in the REAL world, lol!

Glad to hear you got it working. A common problem is a warped bed which is probably why it seems to be off a little.  One way to address this is to print on a glass plate.

Almost everyone on this board had at least some issues when they started.  The SD2 is a decent printer and I think once the issue is addressed you will be very happy.

I mean is the bed actually getting to 118 where you said it was sticking?  It generally has a hard time reaching even 100 when it is not enclosed. That is why I was surprised it was getting to 118. I set mine to 110 all the time so it is running all the time and often it floats around 99 when I remove the towel.

Have you verified the temp of the bed manually?
