Well I think it has to do with the fact that I had to replace all the wires to the extruder(they snapped off), I'm no expert but its all I can think of. But it will still be a great upgrade:)

Wow.. that is awesome, but WAY over my head. I more likely to kill this unit before I get it working. I am just going to hold out for the motherboard, since I seem to have everything else dialed in. Also.. if you change the extruder, will the 1.1v on the extruder be enough? I am not sure if changing the extruder will fix the issue if your motherboard is putting out to low of a voltage.

Got reply back from Solidoodle. They say I have a faulty motheboard, and said I should get it replaced. The problem is that they do not know when the replacements parts will come in. So that isn't really a good option.

What does "Gonna upgrade to E3D V6" mean?

Nice. I'm not so lucky, I cant get my trimpot voltage past 1.1 and am having a really hard time to getting the extruder to extrude right. Gonna upgrade to E3D V6.

I just got word back from Solidoodle.. and it was lame. I told them that my extruder voltage is low. They told me to up my Z Trimpot to 1.5v. Even my z trimpot only maxes out at 1.24. Do they believe that if I up the voltage on my z-trimpot, it will give me more voltage on the Extruder Trim pot? At the same time, they recommend that the X, Y, and Z trim be set to 1v. upping the voltage by 50% seems a bit extreme.

I actually sent my comments as a reply. Knock on wood, with my extruder at 1.2, I am able to print pretty well now. I successfully completed the cute octo model

I wanted to chim in on this. I was having similar problem with my print. Since the material was coming out fine, I thought my extruder voltage was right.

When I went to measure the extruder voltage.. i was only getting .84v (unit fully powered on). I kicked it up to 1.1'ish and it started doing much better on the print jobs. I then looked at the KB provided by solidoodle: http://support.solidoodle.com/hc/en-us/ … Adjustment

Since Solidodle recommended 1.5, I figure I would up it to 1.5. Well.. guess what. My max voltage is only 1.24. I actually measured the voltage on the positive leg and it is 1.24. There is no way I can get 1.5v on the variable leg.

All my other trimpots also had a positive leg of 1.24 and I made sure all the variable legs were set to 1.0v. Sorry if I am not using the right "electronic" terms.

I just opened a support ticket with Solidoodle to see what they recommend.

I have tried it several times and made sure the printer was on, still the max I can get is 1.1v on the extruder. And it doesn't extrude properly

Edit: By the way, I had no problem setting the trimpot to 1.5v. Make sure that the printer is switched on (with the top button) when doing this though. It's not enough to have it connected to the power supply. It must be switched on as well.

Yep I tried all that. Printer is on and upright but I can't get anymore then 1.1v. And I can't seem to print anything, the extruder skips every few seconds, its worst on the first layer. Im thinking it could have to do with the fact that I replaced the extruder wires and plastic clip.

Try adjusting them again. I couldn't initially reach 1.5v on the extruder, which made no sense.

When I tried again, I realized I had set all the trimpots way off, and could reset them.

Make sure the printer is completely on, and upright (not upside down) with the green light on top turned on.

I'll need to watch again. The bed is quite secure. I added the missing screws in the bottom of the printer and under the bed.

My trimpot is turned all the way, and only reaches 1.1v with the printer fully on. I am already waiting for a new motherboard in the mail for a different issue (bed always stays heated even with printer off), so I am hoping it will have working trimpots as well. But it could be weeks so I wouldn't mind fixing this mobo too.

I had this problem too. Watch your printer very carefully. Is the glass bed moving? That was my problem. I'm still working on it, but I think it's just down to over-extruding and the nozzle is then dragging against the over-extruded plastic and causing the bed to shift. As a short-term fix while I get my extrusion set correctly, I took the glass out and raised the two rear screws a fraction to hold the glass more securely in place. I'll put them back once I get the extruder set correctly (assuming this is the problem).
