Re: [UPGRADE]: Vibration Dampeners - Loud printer? Here's a solution!

With finals this next week I was proactive and I printed off quite a few vibration reducers! So if anyone needs one they are set to go!

I have a bunch of these ready to roll.

Re: [UPGRADE]: Vibration Dampeners - Loud printer? Here's a solution!

Loud printers are from the stock extruder being too top heavy and the brass bearings. If you put in linear bearings the printer gets pretty quiet. Not to mention ramps can tone down the Kyoto noise even more. Patching your extruder motors with ninja flex is useless. It's like putting saw dust in a broken engine.

I can confirm this. Once I installed my RAMPS controller and adjusted the proper current to the motor I cant hear it making a sound from ten feet away. The cooling fan on the power supply is now the loudest part.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

You guys and your car similes lol, it makes me laugh. I agree the extuder is top heavy, that's why I swapped over to Andy's bowden extruder last year. These did quite my unit down quiet a bit, but are not an end all. They make a difference though and for people who are not as ambitious as you or I can benefit from them.

Very loud, listen to this.

No dampeners, just properly tuned motors which you cannot do on a stock controller. The entire issue with a Da Vinci is the stock controller is putting too much current out to all the motors and eventually they will fail as mine did. Over driven motors are noisy.

I use the repetier firmware. I do not have anything to sound like yours?

So are you asking a question now? You already posted a video. You can use Repetier all you want, unless you use the dampeners yours will still be noisy? Only other option is to completely change out the controller to one that has current control on the drivers.

Is there a step by step on doing this?  Will the machine auto zero after removing the timing belts?  Still new to my devinci and i dont want to break it.  I have already dont a bunch of mods to print PLA successfully but i haven't had to disassemble the thing for that.

There is no timing, the zeroing as you call it is based on when the home X, Y, and Z sensors are tripped. You dont even need to remove the belts completely.  Just loosen the tension adjusters so you can slip them off the motor gears only.

Re: [UPGRADE]: Vibration Dampeners - Loud printer? Here's a solution!

Oh i see.  It homes on some light gates and then just uses the stepper from those points.  Im used to encoder type machines, this is the first stepper machine i have had.  I may pick these up my machine is very "buzzy" especially while doing any circular interpolation.
