Topic: Slic3r supports

Does anyone know how to enable some sort of simpler support system? Sorta like the supports that only go under the major overhangs? I am trying to print a very detailed print, but the gcode generated by slicer covers almost everything with support material? Any suggestions?

What version of Slic3r are you using?

if it isn't broken, you haven't modded it enough

1.0.1

Re: Slic3r supports

I changed the overhang to 45° and it did everything I needed it to. I'll see if it works on other stuff but this is all I wanted for this print

Look into cura also just for prints that require support.

I read into it, isn't there an issue with cura stopping halfway thru the print?

Re: Slic3r supports

I have done 8+ hour prints with no issues.  If there is an issue it is not specifically with cura. It only is a gcode generator after all.

The cura settings?
I will have to look, I don't think I did anything special besides making the first move a g1 z5 so that on the first rapid it did not bang the glass with the interpolated xyz simultaneous move.
