Awesome, what slicer are you using? I need those supports, or did it come with the model?

Of course, the guy who designed these and many others is our very own superstar fantasy modeler "ysb" on these forums!

I encourage everyone to contribute what you can for his excellent works through that website.

Re: Best Prints with Da Vinci 1.0 [Pictures]

Hope I don't anger anyone with this post given the age of the thread but it was helpful to me when considering this printer. At $375 shipped, I had to pick it up!

I printed this from thingiverse using Firmware ver. 1.1.J, XYZWare 1.1.30.16, with the out the box stock calibration. The only thing I changed was I printed and installed the belt tensioner by Rueben on thingiverse.

Printer Settings:
Density: 30%
Shells: Normal
Layer Height: 0.1
Speed: Slow
No Rafts or Support (model has built in support)

Print time 9h:10m

Re: Best Prints with Da Vinci 1.0 [Pictures]

Sorry to thread jack but there are some new users posting and I'm just wondering if these newer versions are still OK to install the Repetier firmware? I saw somewhere on here suggesting it may not be safe with newer models.

Oh nice.

I have been looking into Acetone vapour but not sure about messing around with flammable liquids. I can be really stupid sometimes big_smile

I have seen a video of someone smoothing ABS with mould and degreaser spray too.

Re: Best Prints with Da Vinci 1.0 [Pictures]

The acetone is safe enough as long as you use it in a well ventilated area.
I use a cheap steam cooker to heat a very small amount of acetone only for about a minute at most then turn the power off and leave for 5 minutes.
This is usually enough to coat an average sized print and smooth it without any further processing.
