Topic: Extremely slow extrusion

Hey,

I have been trying to make filament for a while, but I am so far as right statistics. Diameter is ok (around 1.70) but I couldn't figure out this speed problem in no way. I got about 300 gram in 12 hours! last time. I tried two different ABS pellets one of them has also ideal melt flow rate. In this case there is not a reason to run this machine as long as I'm having that. I have to figure out this problem. If you share your experience on this point, I'll be appreciate.

Thanks

Re: Extremely slow extrusion

300 grams in 12 hours is not completely outside the bounds of normal, though I typically observe 0.5-1.0kg in 12 hours using MG94 ABS and 1.75mm filament. Both PLA and 3.0mm filament will yield higher output rate. The 1kg per 12 hours quotes on the website is an average, depending on several parameters (diameter, material, temperature).

Things you can do:

1.) Drill out the nozzle slightly larger
2.) Run at higher temperature (this will require point 1)
3.) Use the beta motor
4.) Fully insulate the barrel

Anyway - I suspect there is no problem. 300g/12 hour is low, but not indicative of something being broken. It is indicative of the system not being fully optimized (see above).
