Topic: RGB pointer beam combiner

Thought this was a fun idea but never got around to buying the pointers and dichros.

This basically is a way to strap together three laser pointers and use dichros to combine the beams.

...why would you want to combine the light to make a white laser??
Do they make captain planet when combined?

By turning the different pointers on and off you can get up to seven different colors.

Red Yellow Green Cyan Blue Magenta and White

weird... for some reason I was hoping you'd say something like "The beams would triple in power and You can burn things..."

...why am I so messed up?

there is some loss in the dichros but the power would triple if the dichros were perfect.

However, using 5mW pens, you would not expect much in the way of burning.

Combining some Dealextreme 100mw cheapo pointers, Im sure (if they didn't quit working) you could do some burning.

Make much progress with this design? It looked like a fun idea.
