Topic: Sand Blasted Glass Bed

Ive just sandblasted my 3mm glass bed out of interest and i think i may have stumlbed across an even better substitute for hairspray. It has left the surface frosted and slighty 'pitted' it feels like it would be perfect. Its about equal to 400 grit sand paper.

Im running a 4hr print at the moment but when its done ill test it out and see how it goes.
Photo attached with a clear glass plate comparison.

Re: Sand Blasted Glass Bed

If this works well, would you be interested in selling one?

Re: Sand Blasted Glass Bed

Didnt work.
No stick, on the first layer the extruder would eventually pick up a corner that hadnt adhered properly and would slowly turn into a ball of plastic.

I was optimistic to.

Been there, done that..... not saying that it won't work but it didn't work for me.

After sandblasting the glass it was definitely more textured and had more surface area but also a more 'polished' surface with way less adhesion.  First printed layers skidded all over the place.
