Topic: Laser cutter

I've been designing a laser cutter recently, and am pretty close to finished.  The only question I have yet to solve is what am I going to use as electronics / software?

I'd love to use a sanguinololu, as it is sized correctly and convenient.  But.. can I?  I read about a firmware called lazrfish but it doesn't seem too far along.

Also I know that skienforge has a laser cutter option.  But what if I want to engrave?

Does anyone know of any good software hardware combos that you can use for a diy laser cutter?

Re: Laser cutter

No idea though I did see a project going on at U of Michigan where they were building their own and using a Makerbot to do it... I'll try to find it again. Mainly wanted to reply so that I could follow this post in case others were more knowledgeable since I would like to do this myself at some point...
