I'm ordering mine today.... I am pumped!
Any day now.... Any day!!!
I think I'm going to try PYCAM or Mesh cam right away. And mach 3 for now.
I already have licenses for Meshcam and Visual Mill (toolpath preview).
If I had my time again I'd just get DeskProto as this does both plus 4th axis milling.
Meshcam is easier to use, however.
I ordered an X6-1500GT from CNC-carving as we'll. Placed my order on March 12th but still see my status of my shipment as processing.
Stevos, we seemed to have ordered the same mill at about the same time. Do you mind me asking, have they sent you a tracking number and updated your status to shipped already?
I just got a tracking today. Says it will arrive Monday.
I didn't get the 4th axis yet. Ill stick with 3 axis till i get the hang of it.
Thanks Stevos,
I just received an email today from CNC-carving indicating that they had trouble with their email server and lost my order until now. I asked for a tracking number to set my mind at ease. If all goes well I'll just have to wait another week.....
Dang. I feel for you man!
I am very excited. Mine is in Alaska finally! Almost here!
My feedrates are running at a snail like pace no matter what i set them too.... : ( cant seem to fix the problem.
It runs though!
What are you aiming for and what does it seem to be reaching?
It's was the FRO output setting. They want you to change it to external... It must remain Internal for the FRO to work....
Works awesome now! I made a 100mm x 100mm square with some works on it. Made it out of 3/4 pine scrap Ihad laying around. Ran right through that. Except at the end the 6mm cutter started to deflect when the flat part reached the part.
I already broke a 3mm endmill. your supposed to do that as tradition right? Break one off your first night?
Where are you guys buying your end mills?
Ohh and the Mach 3 GUI is horrible! Absolute Garbage! They should pay someone to fix that.
Mesh cam trial is almost gone. I think I will buy that. It seems pretty useful.
Ordered some tooling from meritool.
Stevos, I am glad to hear you are up and running. My order status still hasn't changed from "processing" and no tracking number even though they (CNC-carving) indicated they were shipping my machine last Thursday afternoon (Mar 21st). Just sent them a 4th follow up email requesting status since my order was placed and paid for on March 11th - starting to get concerned......

I agree as you can see earlier in the thread I changed electronics controller and software to get rid of it.
I like to buy tooling either online from www.blackwoods.com.au or try and find bargains in local hardware shops.
I found one full of cutters for less than $10 each that I bet no one else cares or knows about.

Give it time. I hear some people get their machine the day they get the tracking number. It's just the way it goes with them. Mine was dead on as far as the tracking. Some people have noted though that the tracking is sent the day before the machine arrives.

Nice! I should check the local pawn shops. I agree that most people have no use for them or don't know what they are.
Now my mesh cam trial expires soon.... Decisions must be made! I also need to get the interned hooked up to my CNC PC. I am going to purchase G wizard soon as well.
Now, to come up with a way to calibrate the spindle so I can start cutting Aluminum!
Let me know if you figure that out before I do.
I see some guys are looking into hall effect sensors for RPM calc.
Also how do I work the zero probe? It seems to pe set up in mach 3 I'm just not sure how to make it do it's thing yet.

Make sure you trial deskproto as well before you commit.
Also, I've documented my experiences with aluminum earlier in the thread.
Good idea. Ill give it a try. Might as well before i spend all of my money!
Well I was just cutting away and bam,..... Control box went dead.....
I have power coming into the box but the power supply is dead.
I suppose I could steal the one off my 3d printer and that out. I have a meter too if anyone can help me trouble shoot.
Its a sad day. : (
Since you were cutting at the time it probably blew a fuse(if you're lucky) or maybe a weak solder joint... have you ripped the p/s apart to check for burnt traces/components... take some pics and post em' we can guide you through !!! be careful !!! the capacitors in power supplies can hold high voltage in them for a long time after unplugging the unit, so any part of the board can have a shocking amount of voltage on it just waiting for an unsuspecting finger to get zapped !!! so always discharge all caps before handling the board.
The fuse inside looks good? Hmmm. All the switches in the box are working fine....
ill hook it back up and test voltage coming in again after the cord connector.....
I feel like an idiot..... There was a blown fuse just underneath where the power cord plugs in..... It's very discrete....
I better go find another fuse in case I blow this one! Must be making to large of cuts in the AL! : )
Glad you found the culprit sometimes fuses are made just a little weak, had a 600ma sloblow in a 3K plasma cutter blow while cutting at about 20 percent power.. replaced it and it's been going strong for the last 3 years (knock on wood)...
Also, the cnc power supply is 40V so your 3D printer supply wouldn't have done the job.
