Topic: need original firmware.cpp.hex for new printrboard PLEAZZZ

I finally flashed my solidoodle 3 with the new printrboard (solidoodle motherboard Rev E).
there was nothing around that worked for me…
couldn't compile any of the marlin sd3 firmware around here…
so I changed to printrbot.com/shop/printrboard-electronics/
there I found marlin RC2 for the board…
after flashing with hid-bootloader, I found it didn't work…
NOOOOOOOOO!

so please…..
anybody has  a working firmware for solidoodle3 with new board?
I started this, cause I really want to use the sd card…
but now… my printer is not responding anymore…

Re: need original firmware.cpp.hex for new printrboard PLEAZZZ

thanks for the answer!

but... here is a lot going with diffrent answers how to compile and what board to use...
and of course what adruino to use...

can u please give me instructions?
i still have the hid bootloader on the board, so i there is no need to use adruino.
there is no link to the already compiled hex?

what is the solidoodle-motherboard link for?
contains gebers rev e (my board i belive) pls, crs, gpi, ly2 - filetyps..
doesn't look like adruino...

still need help here!

Re: need original firmware.cpp.hex for new printrboard PLEAZZZ

One folder is for the PCB gerber files.

The second folder is for the arduino files. You need to use the arduino 0022 that has been customized by Reprap here:

http://wiki.solidoodle.com/update-firmware

You can select the printrboard in that version. Once it is done, it compiles the hex file in a temp folder.

Re: need original firmware.cpp.hex for new printrboard PLEAZZZ

oh yeah! that really worked! the printer is back alife... yikes)
thanks! *happy*

how did you know about the page with the orignal firmware? how did u find it?
could find any link around... even by searching in the soliforum

dod u know about a firmware for the new board with the sd-slot enabled?
if i enable sdsupport in configuration.h the bootloader says: "teensy... error reading solidoodle3.cpp.hex"
i have some problems with long prints... somtimes it gets stuck... no chance to resume.
i think it es a pc-software issue... so sd card will help fixing it...

Re: need original firmware.cpp.hex for new printrboard PLEAZZZ

Solidoodle support posted the link to the firmware a while back. It is not searchable on their page but I made sure to save it myself. As far as I know, the SD-support won't work until changes get made. I may be completely off. Adrian is your man to answer that question.

Re: need original firmware.cpp.hex for new printrboard PLEAZZZ

so here is the compiled orgFirmwareFile firmware.cpp.hex

howToWindowsOnly
- unzip bootloaderHID.rar to c: (or anywhere u can find it easy)
- copy firmware.cpp.hex to bootloaderHID dir
- press windows start and type in: cmd (to open console)
- use cd command to navigate to bootloaderHID dir
- bridge boot jumper on your printrboard (because of the acryl cover, easiest way is to stick in a small screwdriver from top)
- press reset button on printrboard
- the com port the printrboard was connected (mostly com3) disappears, but another usbHID device appears
- in the commandline use "hid_bootloader_cli -mmcu=at90usb1286 -w -v firmware.cpp.hex"
- pull out the screwdriver and press reset oncemore...
- done!

Re: need original firmware.cpp.hex for new printrboard PLEAZZZ

I want to compile a firmware file to use the e3d hotend but can not figure out how to. Where do I put the files in the motherboard folder and which file do I open in aurino?

Should we host the compiled firmware hex files on our site?

Re: need original firmware.cpp.hex for new printrboard PLEAZZZ

Whatever you put into the printer as a hex file, would be invaluable. Its like a reset button on a router. As long as you KNOW you have the thing that was originally in there, you can rule out problems once you tinker tooo far.
