Topic: Nozzle cleaning question

last week in one of the threads you  touched on nozzle cleaning.
I have an ultimaker S3 Dual print core (nozzle cartridge assembly) which can not be disassembled.
they cost  $115 each. if you damage the tip of the nozzle by cleaning than the auto level will not work
Auto level can not be over ridden.  My question is. is fine bronze or brass wool abrasive.
being a cartridge type nozzle I can heat it up. turn off the machine and pull it out to clean it.
the main print core I use has a .4mm nozzle and has 735 hours run time and all I have had to do is clean the nozzle OD.
I run PETG and it is hard to get off the Nozzles.

Here is a picture of the print core and Bronze whool.

Re: Nozzle cleaning question

personally, i would not.

SDs shipped with toothbrushes for cleaning the exterior of the nozzles, and it does work. a stiff (hard) bristle toothbrush works fine and will not result in any damage to anything.

warm the nozzle just enough to soften the material - not full heat - and brush it off.

And for the record.. this sort of thing is why I don't like proprietary stuff.. you should be able to replace just the nozzle as that is considered a wear item.. charging $115 for a whole new head is insanity if all you need is a nozzle that should cost less than $10
