3d Printers in Star Trek Picard Series

Has anyone here noticed the 3d printers showing up in the Picard series acting as replicators.
a pair of them showed up in IIRC episode 3 in the mars destruction sequence  then another one in sick bay on episode 7.

One you tube commentator proclaimed this as lame by the prop department. Stating they could have done better.
IMHO what better to use as a replicator. it brings awareness of 3d printers to the public eye and why spend money fabricating when an off the shelf item work the part. and of course there is some video magic to make things like meals and hyper spays magically appear. My only concern it that the public think that that is the way printers actually work.

Has anyone else here noticed the 3 D printers in the scenes and what is your take one how they are used in this series.
