Topic: Motherboard smd replacement transistor for fan control 2.0

I'm looking for a replacement for a transistor on a 2.0 motherboard. It's located just above the  connector leading to the extruder, designation q103 or q4 (same transistor). If is labelers w1p p3, but I get mixed info when searching online. Any help is appreciated.

Are you certain? I also looked at that data sheet, however there are at least four other data sheets with different specifications. Also in luc's repetier, issue #64, someone who claimed to have performed a mod adding a second fan says he used a npn type, not pnp. Also, I would assume the transistor would be sw, not frequency.

Re: Motherboard smd replacement transistor for fan control 2.0

It is being used to run a fan in PWM mode. The specs are fine. When used like this you can always go up in specs. Just never down. If the part number on the part is as you say then the site I sent you is correct in that it is a BFT92. This is a site we use for business use as I am tech in the telecom rectifier field and often have to source obsolete parts such as these. It's up to you but at some point you need to buy and see if it works instead of just asking questions. You only learn by doing.

The P3 is not relevant, it is just a date code.

Understood. Makes sense now that you mention pwm. I'll give this a try and post back pending success or failure. Thanks.
