Topic: Layer shifts.

Hey everyone. Not exactly sure where to start looking to solve these issue. E100=100 & .48=.48 walls. if i use the same print settings (using RH and Slic3r PE) @.2963 layer height.  I keep getting layer shifts on X Which seems to only happen if i try to print something that isn't a calibration print. it seems like the nozzle is staying to close to the last layer around and after later three or so dragging on cooled down filament causing a skip. I Just replaced my X belt and have fair tension on it. I have my driver vref set to .320mv which should put me at .8a on a nema 14 driven by a 4988 on 1/16 step. I sure am bewildered by this, seeing how not to long ago i was starting to make some head way printing some EHH okay prints before i recalitbrated everything put a new belt on. Hmm.? Any help getting this solved will be greatly appreciated. TY. Any further needed details needed just ask. If someone wanted to move this topic to a better spot feel free.

Re: Layer shifts.

You need go back over your calibrations. You are over extruding for some reason. You should be able to see defined layers and fill in. That looks just all melted and oozed together.

Re: Layer shifts.

x motor is likely getting too hot and that is what is causing the skipping - get a fan on it

and i agree, you need to look at calibrations again..
as a side note, in Slic3r, there is a setting in the "advanced" section called "overlap" - make sure that is set to 0

and clean the garbage out of the bottom.. geez..

Hey heartless, the X motor runs cool to the touch. What I dont understand is single wall  calibration prints come out to what they should be (.48) & E100=100.  I changed the overlap to zero, I am starting to wonder if the driver is starting to fail maybe?  I also cleaned the garbage out too btw. Same results.

if X motor is running cool to the touch, it probably does not have enough power, which can also cause skipping. Being a smaller motor, when they are running right, they tend to run hot, not cool.
a failing stepper driver is a possibility.
