Topic: New hotend for davinci jr 1.0

Ok, my curent, original hotend from davinci has burned up. I found this on amazon. Is thia the correct one for the orange davinci jr1.0?

Wangdd22 E3D V6 Hot End Full Kit 1.75mm 12V Bowden/RepRap 3D Printer Extruder Parts Accessories 0.4mm Nozzle https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XBXDJY3/re … HDbDHFS5YM

Im letting my  bro-in-law borrow this printer for a bit, but it needs a new hot end. I am all ready using third party filament. Is there any files i have to print in order for the new hotend to fit? I do own a cr10

Thanks

Has anyone put one of these on a JR.? I never recall seeing any post of it being done. You have to build a carriage for it. Then you also have to have an uncompiled copy of the firmware so you can make the needed changes in it. To my knowledge such a copy does not exist.

This type of hot end swap is usually done on machines that have had the mainboard changed to open source as well

Re: New hotend for davinci jr 1.0

Ok, found the post.
---------
Print one of these: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1724209
And one of these: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:839620

Buy one of these (Bowden, 12v): https://e3d-online.com/lite6-hotend
Or preferably one of these (Bowden, 12v): https://e3d-online.com/v6-all-metal-hotend

You can wire up the new hotend to the wires where the old ones were, and you will be back up and running. The circuit board will need to be moved somewhere else, but that shouldn't be too difficult as long as everything still wires up the same.

After you do this setup, you can replace just the nozzle if it wears out again.

Is the hotend i posted above the same as the one listed? Tha ks

The hotends are the same. But I still think you will need to mod the firmware. The thermistor is different from stock. Also the PID will need to be retuned. But hey maybe you will get lucky.

My jr uses a 100k resistor, but pid might have to be done. Ill keep digging. I mean, $12 to try it out is NOT bad at all. Worse case scenario, i buy a ramps + mega combo
