Topic: dual color not printing clean Why.

I have a dual extruder and am printing ABS using Simplify3D as my software. i have the retraction distance set at 1.0 ad retraction speed at 1800 mm/min.
what do you suggest I do to get a clean print
this print was printed at .3 layer thickness.

Thanks

Re: dual color not printing clean Why.

Looks to me like it is too hot and even ooze prevention is not stopping it. I use 60mm/s and 4.5mm for distance. For a direct drive system you want very short retraction times and distances.

You are only needing to move the filament between the nozzle and the gear, not the extra stuff in the guide tube from the spool. The idea is to create a slight bit of back pressure to suck the filament back in slightly.

It's a balance that you have to find with your setup. Put you also need to make sure you are using the minimum temp possible and still assure layers are bonding. If it is too hot even with retraction it will still ooze.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!
