Topic: Mount Chimera+ on CreatBot

Hi!
I just bought a used CreatBot printer, which comes with two 2.85 mm hotness. Now, I have always used 1.75 filaments, I wanted to change the two things with a Chimera+, which seems to merge the double extruder and the 1.75mm filaments request.
My question is, would it be ok to just change the two extruders and the PTFE tubes, and then put some settings on Cura or RepetierHost? Should I change the firmware as well? From what I see on the LCD display, the motherboard runs Marlin, but I tried to look at it better and I cannot understand which model it is.

One last thing, in order to change the extruders, I have to disassemble the extruders already on the printer. Do you know how to take the rods away? I also saw some mounts for the Chimera on the Ultimaker 2+, do you know it they will fit?

Thanks a lot for the help! I will post the picture of both printer and motherboard, maybe you recognise them. Thanks!

Re: Mount Chimera+ on CreatBot

First of all let me pre-emp this with I am not familiar with that brand of printer. Based on current web site info it appears to be a discontinued model.
IMHO as this is a Bowden set up and more or less ultimaker clone that is why it uses 2.85 mm filament. as it is easer to push.

will the utimaker parts work  you need to measure .

It may be wise to get a roll of 2.85 mm filament and test the thing before investing a bunch of time and money rebuilding it.

wish I could be of more assistance.

Re: Mount Chimera+ on CreatBot

Hi! Thank you a lot Tin Falcon! Actually, I managed to connect to both Cura and PrintRun, and everything worked, all the motors seem to be fine, together with the cartridges and the temperature beads.
What I want to do is to eliminate the part with the two extruders, replacing it with a printed mount for the Chimera and then replacing the motherboard with a MKS 1.4/1.5. In this way I should have perfectly working machine, without the problem of a bigger filament and the firmware which is unknown.
Sounds fine? Thanks a lot!
