Topic: Scann gives me two files -- Why?

Hi, I just finished my Atlas 3D and tried the first scanns.
After scanning I have two files from the object - a ****left and a ****right file.
What must I do to combine the 2 files form one better grafic.

I video in youtube shows the Altlas 3D scanning - and at the end there is only one file.

In the setup I selected "use both lasers".

Re: Scann gives me two files -- Why?

Klaus,

I haven't played with my Atlas3D lately, but I know this one!  The more recent versions of the software no longer combine the data from both lasers into one mesh.  The output is now one file for each laser.  To combine them, you'll need a program like Meshmixer (which is free).

Somewhere here on the forums, Hairu stated that he thought Meshmixer did a better job of combining the meshes than the Atlas3D software did.  I personally think this was a result of users not calibrating their scanners adequately.

I too miss having a single file as a result.  I forget what software version changed this, but the older versions will still combine the results into one file.

Hope this helps!

Hi Kevin,
thank you for your very good answer.
I use now MeshMixer and it works.
