Hello
Has anyone managed to run a XYZprinting PRO 1.0 printer with XYZmaker 1.2 software on Linux?
When I start slicing, the PC crashes and I have to reboot
I despair....

try xyzware for linux, not that it is more stable, but bug may show up at different place and hopefully not crash your pc. XYZWare and XYZMaker can both slice and print, but you can not build model in XYZWare, hopefully you can make the model in XYZMaker if you needed to and save it to .3w (without crash your pc). Then open with xyzware and slice and print.
If all you need is slice and print, just stick with xyzware.
Thank you for the answer ! I would like to use XYZmaker only to print my objects. This will prevent me from booting to a Windows partition ....
If I go to the XYZprinting site, I can not find XYZware for linux .... only for Windows or Mac .... check the link: http://www.xyzprinting.com/support/en-US/Help / download / XYZware.
Do you know a valid link to XYZmaker for linux?

Why not just buy a cheap $50 dollar laptop on ebay running Windows and dedicate it to the printer? If you are a Linux user then you are painfully aware of the limited versions of software and games and such out there.
Support from XYZ is horrible for anything and I can assure it is even worse for or completely absent for Linux. The Chinese have some new machines that require windows XP still for their dedicated software to work.
So just get a dedicated machine running windows for the printer and save your hair.
I have been working on Linux for over 10 years now and I have never found a limitation with my machines. I use Linux for photography, drawing, programming, CNC ....
The XYZprinting printer is a gift from my family! they did not pay attention that this one only works with Windows (or MAC).
I actually have a dedicated laptop to run my CNC with Linux tools .... and that's why I would like to drive my 3D printer from Linux. If not, I will actually have to install a double partition with Windows ....
I confirm that the XYZ support is bad .... they just pointed me on XYZmaker which normally runs on Linux .... and for more answers to my questions!
I think xyzprinting only support Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 16.04, if you use other branch, it may cause problem.
slic3r and Cura all support linux, you might need to do some modification on gcode to get it work with Da Vinci 1.0 Pro.

And I would highly recommend this mod to extend your sd card reader in case you have trouble to connect to the printer under linux. You may need a different extension cable depending on your mainboard equiped with sd card reader or micro-sd card reader.

I will actually look at this solution which is quite simple to implement in order to use a file transfer via SD card!
I have already looked at the use of Cura or Slic3r under Linux, but I always stuck on the file transfer via USB .....
Thank you for your help
