Topic: New ApplyLabWorks Resin - Tan

Last week ApplyLabWorks released 2 new resins:

A neutral Grey, which most of us have been asking for, and some of us have been making by mixing their black and beige.   And along with the new Grey they also released a Tan, which is actually much closer to a skin tone salmon pink, the color usually associated with dental resins.

So this past weekend I've been testin the Tan, and I'm quite please with it.  The new resins use the Grey v3 or Grey v4 profiles, and while they don't have the matte finish of the FormLabs resin, they do produce very nice, detailed prints.

The first print I tried was the same model of the Orc Shaman I made before.  This time I printed it at 50nm resolution instead of 25nm, yet the model has better, crisper detailed than the previous print.  So I also printed a few more 28mm miniatures along with it, these are affectionately known as "Sisters of Battle" or "Bolter Babes"

Emboldened by the success, I though that I'd print an entire squad of "Bolter Babes".  The photo on the left, is the cluster as printed, then on the right separated after birth.  I'll post better photos once I remove them from the supports.

Re: New ApplyLabWorks Resin - Tan

Here is another Warhammer model. This one is a 31st millenium Dreadnought, Contemptor pattern belonging to the XIII Legion, the Ultramarines.  The old relic dreadnoughts were larger and more powerful than the current dreadnoughts, but the technology was lost after the Heresy battle and the few that were found on various worlds are treated as holy relics.

This model was printed at 0.05mm resolution in 5 parts, base, body, legs & arms.  It's at the 28mm scale as all the gaming Warhammer models, and it measures 80mm from the bottom of the base to the tip of the exhaust pipes.

Here is an ensemble photo of the model after it's been primed.  The details simply pop in place.  In fact the photos don't do it justice, since they were taken with my phone, in less then ideal conditions.

Re: New ApplyLabWorks Resin - Tan

Here is yet another model.  This one is an Armiger knight, and no, not all of it is printed.  only the right arm and the head.  The rest is from the boxed kit.  I bought a set or Armiger Warglaive knights, and I though it would be cool to modify one as a Space Wolves chapter (one of my favorites).

Space Wolves prefer close combat to long distance shooting, so it needed to have a clawed arm.  The arm is patterned after a Thunderstrike power glove, with some Wolverine like claws and an eagle talon for a thumb.  The head was inspired by the helmets some of the Space wolves wear, and combined with the head of the imperial knight I modeled before.

Here is a photo of the arm and head on the Armiger body.  The model is only 85% complete, but the custom parts are all there.
