question about STL in fusion 360

I am trying to make a duel colored math spinner in fusion 360.
however as you can see in the pics the main body did not have the cuts
after inserting the symbol. the top pic is the main body and the bottom pic is with symbols  inserted before hiding them. What is going on.
I saved an stl of the body and one of just the symbols.
