Topic: Solidoodle is dead, where can I get spares.

It is clear that Solidoodle is completely dead.

Why the web site is still up is beyond me. No sales, no support, no downloads.

Surely, given this, it would not be unreasonable for Solidoodle at least release the details of the suppliers of various parts so that people can at least contact directly or someone could set up a small online spares business or similar,  to supply these.

I have a Press with a blown bed heater pad and a damaged heart block. I tried to get spares for the latter last year for a good few months, only to eventually be told they do not have the spares in stock and they would be available in the new year. It is the new year, and now the support is completely down, no way to contact anyone, and the site is not open for orders.

Is there anyone who can help with sourcing these, I would really appreciate the help.

Go on Solidoodle - have an ounce of decency left and help your customers as best you can still.

Re: Solidoodle is dead, where can I get spares.

Thats great news.

I have a very bent, but still working extruder heater block, which I would love to replace in its entirety. Lets just say I got frustrated with feeder problems at some point and took it out on the feeder tube.

I tried to order that from solidoodle and in the meantime bought another machine, the Wanhoa i3, which I have blown the motherboard replacing the thermistor which was not working.

I then got back to the Solidoodle press, manage to bash the heater assembly back into some share, and got to printing again, only for the heater bed to burn out a couple a days back. So now I need this as well.

Any help appreciated,

Re: Solidoodle is dead, where can I get spares.

For the i3 you can replace the board with a number of options.  Kind of depends on your expectations and budget.  Some options: Ramps 1.4, Rumba, Azteeg X3 the list goes on and on.
My favorite is the Rumba for its robust and expandable design.  http://www.makerfarm.com/index.php/prin … board.html

As for your PRESS a few pictures posted here will most likely yeild numerous suggestions and users willing to help.

I know this forum is about Solidoodle, but out of interest if you had to go out now and buy a new machine, what would you recommend (maybe I bin these two as spare parts fro diy CNC or some other robotics.

We are not just a Solidoodle forum so do a little searching and you'll find several active threads discussing that exact question.

To Antonvanwouw;

try these;

Block: http://www.amazon.com/Aluminum-Speciali … XYAV66PEPQ

nozzles: http://www.amazon.com/HICTOP-Printer-Ex … ge_o00_s00

Throat:
can't find a good match, Might try this:
                                        http://www.amazon.com/Signswise-Stainle … der+barrel
It would need the flats filed on it and maybe the narrow open area longer

Bed heater: http://www.amazon.com/Signswise-Stainle … der+barrel
That is the only one listed at 24V which I believe is our voltage,  but I have not measured it.
Might also try this one:
http://www.amazon.com/3D-CAM-200x200-Al … ge_o01_s00
This one is a metal bed with built in heater for 12 or 24V.

Scramjet.
edited to add second bed heater.

I have the original heater block nozzle and heatbreak that I will not be using as I change my head to a E3D. It is in very good shape just needs the burnt plastic cleaned off.

If you want it just pay the shipping.
