Topic: STL thumbnails?

I'd love to be able to look at a windows directory and see image thumbails of each of my STL files.

Does anyone know of a way to achieve this?  I'd consider solutions that are either (a) windows explorer enhancements or (b) stand alone applications that can view every STL file in a folder (i.e. some kind of "gallery viewer" software.

I've also been wanting this. I did at one point have them on my workstation when I was playing with mesh editing for ReconstructMe. But I can't seem to figure out what program was going it for me. Both Netfabb and Meshlab don't do it, but I can't for the life of me remember what else I had installed. If you figure it out, do post what you used smile

Re: STL thumbnails?

well, i use inventor as my 3d modeling software. When I associate .stl file type with inventor, it will do the thumbnails.

So I assume if your program that you associate .stl files with has that functionality, it will set it up. There might be more manual ways to set it up, as well.
