Topic: New enclosure idea

I have been looking for something for the top of my SD2 so I can go to acryllic on sides and top.  I have been using my SD case to keep the build enviroment warm but don't like not having access.   The only thing that has been stopping me is that I want the top cover to be raised.  I'm having trouble with a spool of Octave where if I leave the case on overnight and try to print the next day, there is a kink in the filament and it doesn't want to pull through.  I have to lift the case, push the filament past the kink by hand and then put the case back on.   So after looking into vacuum forming to make my own, it dawned on me that it's already out there.

Presenting clear plastic tray 11X11 square should fit nicely on top and let filament loop freely and still let me watch what's going on.

I'm going to try to get it hinged and sealed once I see how they look.  I ordered a couple from another site as well but we'll see how it works out.

Re: New enclosure idea

I had similar problems.

Attached is a photo of what I use.  I used magnets to attach acrylic sheets to the sides, and bent two ends of a 12x16 sheet to fit the top.  I did that with a plastic strip heater, but you could also glue together three pieces with acrylic cement.

The top isn't currently attached, but slides nicely under the u-shaped handle that I added.
